We have set up this page for anyone wanting to donate money to support Karley and raise money for this fantastic cause.
Taranaki
Karley Hunt is a Senior Sergeant and the Prevention Manager at New Plymouth Police Station.
For many years she has had a bucket list idea to swim the Cook Strait in New Zealand.
This is one of the top (and hardest!) swims in the world.
Karley will be swimming the Cook Strait for Police Blue Light - to raise money and awareness for many of our 'at risk' young people in the Taranaki community.
The swim will be in the week starting 25th March 2018 (actual date is dependent on weather and tides)
Blue Light is a Registered Charity that works in partnership with Police to deliver an extensive range of youth programs and initiatives.
Here in Central Taranaki, our aim is empower our young people to want better for their future and break the negative life patterns they are often exposed to.
We do this by organising Inspirational Trips to the Police Collage, Army, Air Force, NZ School of Tourism and Travel, PIHMS just to name a few. These trips are designed to showcase other young people doing something really cool with their lives. This gives our young people a reason to stay in school or other education and work towards their goals. National Blue Light have Leadership and Life Skills Camps that are supported by the Defence Force that we refer our young people to. The key component to our program is that we stay engaged and support them along the way.
The funds will be used to continue our dynamic program in Taranaki. This includes sending young people to Hawaiki Rising Voyage, Spirit of Adventure, Blue Light Life Skills and Leadership Camps, and many Inspirational trips throughout the year.
